Cookie notice
This notice explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on levelpeek.com, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind. It sits alongside our privacy notice.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage and the subscription record a browser keeps for notifications — work the same way for the purposes of this notice, so we treat them together.
Categories we use
Necessary
Needed for the site to work and for your own choices to be remembered. These are always active because the site cannot function properly without them.
- Cookie choice — stores whether you accepted or declined the optional categories, in local storage, for up to twelve months.
- Security and delivery — set by our hosting and content delivery provider to serve pages and protect against abuse; session length up to twelve months.
Analytics
Only set after you accept. They tell us, in aggregate, which pages are read and how people reach them, so we know which notes to expand.
- Audience measurement — page views, referring address, approximate region, device class; typical lifetime up to twelve months.
Browser notifications
This site sets no advertising cookies and works with no advertising networks. The only identifier in this group belongs to browser notifications, and it appears only after you accept and allow them.
- Web push subscription (OneSignal) — created only if you allow browser notifications. It stores a subscription identifier so a message can reach that browser, and it stays until you turn notifications off or clear your browser data. OneSignal acts as our processor for this purpose.
How your choice is recorded
The banner shown on your first visit records Accept or Decline in your browser's local storage. Declining leaves only the necessary category active. To review the choice, clear the site data for levelpeek.com in your browser and the banner appears again on the next visit.
Switching cookies off
- In your browser — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a single site or for all sites, usually under Settings, then Privacy or Site settings.
- Browser notifications — open the site settings for levelpeek.com in your browser and set notifications to Block; delivery stops at once.
- The digest — use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any email, or write to editor@levelpeek.com.
Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from behaving as intended, including the cookie banner remembering your answer.
